As a technology-based Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company with experience in the aviation sector, PT Garuda Daya Pratama Sejahtera (GDPS) introduces technology with air circulation innovation that can filter viruses, called Beyond Fresh. This time GDPS demonstrates professionalism and commitment in developing the invention by registering a Patent at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law & Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Dirjen HAKI) with the invention title “Method of Creating Virus Anti-Microbial Air Circulation in Land and Sea Transportation” submitted on February 8, 2022. The patent has received approval from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia with Simple Patent Certificate Patent Number IDS000005560 dated February 13, 2023. With the acquisition of the Simple Patent Certificate, GDPS is guaranteed and given protection by the state for the invention for 10 years from the date of receipt.
With this patent, GDPS intends to provide legal protection to prevent any party from using or misusing GDPS’s invention. However, as a manifestation of GDPS’s commitment to supporting and creating a better air circulation system, GDPS opens opportunities for any party to collaborate, particularly in the utilization of inventions that have broad impact while respecting GDPS’s exclusivity provisions on the patent.
Rachmad Arif Binantoro, Director of Business and Operations at GDPS, stated that the use of Beyond Fresh in office environments has been felt to be beneficial. From laboratory tests conducted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Health, the application of Beyond Fresh technology has resulted in significant impact. “Virus reduction reaches 77.7% for rooms with activity and 100% for rooms with no activity,” Rachmad stated enthusiastically.
Seeing the success of Beyond Fresh use in office environments, expert staff at GDPS were motivated to develop Beyond Fresh so it could be implemented in mass transportation modes both land and sea. According to kemkes.go.id, “Public transportation is 1 of 3 public spaces that has potential as a permanent cluster in the spread of various types of viruses, COVID-19, bacteria, and fungi floating in the air/airborne diseases, this spread can cause flu, chickenpox, measles, TB, up to COVID-19.” This is the reason GDPS moved to patent Beyond Fresh as an anti-virus for mass transportation both land and sea, so the public can also experience the benefits that Beyond Fresh provides in public transportation facilities.
“With the acceptance of this patent, it proves that GDPS is ready to make a significant contribution in changing the air circulation system in public transportation both land and sea, which has a high risk of virus spread,” stated Mohammad Arif Faisal, President Director of PT GDPS. GDPS also ensures that the addition and application of Beyond Fresh to mass transportation both land and sea will not have a significant impact on costs incurred by the public, making Beyond Fresh an effective innovation suitable for placement in mass transportation both land and sea.
