Tangerang (11/07/24) – PT Garuda Daya Pratama Sejahtera (GDPS), a leading technology-based BPO company and part of the Garuda Indonesia Group, demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship by participating in planting 123 mangrove seedlings as part of Garuda Indonesia Group’s TSLJ activities under the theme Flight Path to Sustainability: Planting the Future on October 15, 2024 at Mangrove Park, Ketapang, Tangerang.
This activity, conducted in collaboration with Garuda Indonesia Group and partnering with Yayasan Benih Baik Indonesia, represents the implementation of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to expand reforestation commitments through mangrove planting to support the government in achieving Indonesia’s transition to net zero emissions or Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.
Cornelis Radjawane, President Director of GDPS, expressed that this activity represents a tangible manifestation of the company’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TSLJ), undertaken as a mitigation action to preserve planetary sustainability.
“The mangrove planting initiative conducted by GDPS together with Garuda Indonesia Group is a response to the massive climate change we are experiencing. Through this planting effort, we hope to help control climate change, preserve the ecosystem in the surrounding area, and provide benefits to local residents,” Cornelis stated.
This coastal mangrove planting collaboration is expected to deliver various positive impacts such as absorbing air pollution, reducing coastal erosion, and creating biodiversity by providing habitat for small marine animals. This program is not only important for environmental conservation but can also support coastal communities through sustainable ecosystem preservation.
“We believe that environmental sustainability is not the responsibility of a single sector, but of all parties. Therefore, this activity is concrete evidence that GDPS, together with Garuda Indonesia Group, is committed to preserving the environmental ecosystem, particularly in reducing existing carbon footprint,” Cornelis continued.
Moving forward, through collaborative efforts, GDPS together with Garuda Indonesia Group will continue to actively contribute positively to communities, not only in the environmental sector but also in education and UMKM development in accordance with the implementation of several aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
